- Many of the candy companies that started in the 1800s have come and gone since that time. However, more than 60% of all candy products available today have been in production for more than sixty years.
- In 1922, H.B Reese produced the first peanut butter candy covered in Hershey’s chocolate. It became a big hit and is credited as being the product that inspired many of the similar items around today.
- The Rocky Road candy bar was first designed and sold in 1950 by The Annabelle Candy Company. The business was named after the daughter of the founder Sam Altshuler, and the Rocky Road candy bar went on to become one of the most popular in America.
- 1994 saw the introduction of Starburst Jelly Beans from M&M Mars. Only a few years previously, Hershey sent 144,000 heat resistant candy bars to soldiers fighting in the Gulf War.
