Holidays are occasions for celebrations that everyone enjoys. Apart from the regular holidays you know of, there are many oddball holidays you have probably never heard of before. These range from the mildly surprising to the bizarre.

Oddball holidays are celebrated throughout the year and are essentially fun holidays. Some of them are really interesting and are worth celebrating. Like in all other months, there are many oddball holidays in August. We present to you 10 of the most interesting oddball holidays you can enjoy in August. 1. National Girlfriends Day

Your girlfriend is a very special person in your life. You don’t have to celebrate her only on Valentine’s Day. The 1st of August is National Girlfriends day when you pamper her and have a great time. Take her for a chick flick, a road trip, or a candlelight dinner. It is a day to enjoy with your girlfriend and bring a smile to her face.

2. Grab Some Nuts Day

Nuts are great for health. We generally eat a lot of junk food that is not great for our health. If you eat nuts daily, you get nutrients that your body needs. It also keeps your tummy filled, so you don’t feel like snacking. On 3rd August, grab a handful of your favorite nuts and snack on them. Whether it is cashews, walnuts, or pecans eat nuts on this day and get the nutrients your body needs. Make this a practice by snacking on nuts daily.

3. Work Like a Dog Day

A dog works the hardest and is loyal too. Be like a dog on the 5th of August and celebrate work like a dog day. On this day, show your dedication to your work by working hard and being loyal to your employer. It is a day for workaholics to celebrate. For all others, put in more effort on this day and watch your boss get surprised.

4. International Cat Day

Having celebrated dogs, how can we leave cats behind? August 8th is celebrated internationally as Cat Day. It is the day when cat lovers show the world how much they love their cats. Pamper your cats and give them special treats. If you don’t have a cat, then it is the day to get one. Go to a shelter, pick up a kitten, and make it a part of your life. 5. Lazy Day

August 10th is the day when you can officially be lazy. Celebrate this oddball holiday by doing nothing. Relax on a hammock or just sleep for long hours. Don’t do any work and have a lazy day. Amidst busy schedules, this is a good day to get some rest.

8. Ride The Wind Day

The 29th of August is when we remember that we need to eat less salt. Most people eat too much salt, which is not good for their health. On this day reduce your salt. Instead, snack on healthy herbs like basil, parsley, and thyme. Try to make these herbs a part of your regular diet.
